The magazine covers the pleasures and joys of rural life, as well as the concerns of rustic people. It is primarily concerned by rural communities and their environments as well as the concerns of unpolished dwellers and landowners and has a divergent readership which, although mainly UK based is in addition international. Much of its success has historically been built in successi~ its coverage of country houses, science and gardening. The first several dozen pages of each issue are loving to colour advertisements for upmarket residential property, which are one of the best known attractions of the magazine, and familiar with everyone from the super bright looking for a country house or interest to those who can only soar to own such a property.
